1. Rajiv Chowk Man Wanted to ‘Assassinate’ Another Man

The man who attempted to shoot himself in Rajeev Chowk metro station in New Delhi on October 1 claimed he wanted to “assassinate” another person who was about to “blow up” Delhi Metro. Identified as Shibesh Adhikari, the 24-year-old is now suspected to be mentally deranged.

Taken to RML Hospital, the man faces charge under arms act and breach of security.

2. Old Dalit Man Axed, Burnt in UP For Entering Temple

A Dalit man in UP was allegedly axed to death and set on fire by a person belonging to an upper caste outside a temple when the former refused to pay him money.

The accused Sanjay Tiwari was arrested. He was drunk at that time.

A 24-year-old man was arrested on Thursday for allegedly raping and murdering his six-year-old sister-in-law near Jaipur.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has said that Governor Vaju Bhai Vala has sought an action-taken report on the rape charges against Ramachandrapura mutt seer Raghaveshwara Bharathi.

5. Railway Engineer Murder: Suresh Prabhu Orders Probe

Railway minister Suresh Prabhu has ordered a probe into the death of a railway engineer, whose partially decomposed body was found with his head smashed, in his Kharagpur residence on September 22.

The police claimed that he died of snake bite and did not file an FIR for the next ten days. The post-mortem report was inconclusive.

6. Father-Son Duo Sentenced to Life for Killing Dalit in Tamil Nadu

A Tamil Nadu court on Thursday awarded life sentence to an upper caste Hindu father-son duo for murdering a Dalit youth in 2012, in a case of alleged ‘honour killing’.

The girl’s parents (father was sentenced) were against the match. The duo finally eloped and got married in 2011.

7. Gangster Killed by Hitman Hired to Murder Rival

A notorious gangster ‘Periya’ Mahesh, 55, got killed in the hands of a hitman he had hired to murder his arch rival in Tamil Nadu.

Mahesh was closely associated with slain rowdy Dindigul Pandi who police killed in a gunfight in 2010.
