On Wednesday night, a man working with an IT company shot dead his wife, who was a doctor, at her clinic in Pune.
The man, who has been identified as Manoj Patidar, is a resident of Pune’s Wakad area. The complaint was filed by Anjali Patidar, the victim’s brother, at the Wakad police station.
Anjali was a gynaecologist and had been married to Manoj for five years. The couple has a 2-year-old son together. Their son was at the clinic with his mother, when she was attacked. Her brother alleged that Manoj had been mentally and physically harassing her for the past two years.

Four people were nabbed from Hiranandani Hospital in Mumbai on Thursday by the Mumbai Police in connection with a kidney racket.
Vijendra Visen and three others have been held. The police received a tip-off about them through a social worker, Mahesh Tanna.
Hospital staff and the management are also being questioned by the police.

A murder convict who jumped parole was detained by the Mumbai Anti-Terrorism Squad on Wednesday.
Aziz Khan, the convict, is serving a life sentence for a 2010 murder case, where he and his accomplices entered a jeweller’s office to rob him and ended up strangling the jeweller.
Khan had been granted a 30-day parole on 14 December, 2015 and released from Kolhapur prison but had not returned to the prison since and was on the run.

On Wednesday, a minor was sent to a juvenile home for stabbing an Imam inside a mosque in Bareilly.
The class 9 student confessed to the crime to the police, who called it an act of revenge. The imam, who is recovering, alleged that the boy carried out the stabbing at the behest of his father, Chotan, who is still at large.
Maulana Iqbal Raza had scolded the boy for a minor issue. On Tuesday, the boy’s father confronted the imam and allegedly tried to rough him up. Locals claim that the imam caught Chotan and hit him with a slipper.

A 22-year-old cab driver was arrested by police in Bengaluru for the alleged murder of an elderly couple.
The accused, Venkatesh, allegedly committed the crime to rob the couple of their valuables to pay off his student debt and loans. The police took him in on the basis of circumstantial evidence.
On 5 July, Venkatesh who was known to them, visited their home on the pretext of talking to them about a prospective bride for their son, after which he overpowered the elderly man and slit his throat. He also slit the old woman’s throat.
He stole a little over Rs 1 lakh from the couple to pay off his debts.

In Jodhpur, a 17-year-old girl from an all-girls school was allegedly ragged and forcefully stripped in the school’s campus.
A case was filed against five students from the school under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act by the girl’s father who claimed the girl was cornered and bullied in the school’s washroom.
The matter came to light on 8 July and the girl’s father approached the school principal the next day. The school principal denied the allegations. He then met a parent of one of the accused students on 11 July, who asked for the matter to be dropped.
Finally, a case was filed on 13 July and police identified one of the accused as a minor.

A college student has alleged that the five youths who had raped her three-years ago, raped her again on Wednesday in Rothak.
Two of the five had received a prison sentence of two years and were later released on bail. The girl’s family was under severe pressure from the accused to withdraw the case, in exchange for a hefty amount.
The girl said that the accused had kidnapped her from outside her college and raped her again in a car, for not withdrawing the case. Later, she was abandoned in an unconscious state on the outskirts of town, from where she somehow managed to reach home.
A case has been registered against the men she named.

The body of a domestic help was found in a de-addiction centre with a bullet wound in the head.
The police have arrested a couple for the murder on Thursday. They said that Madhurjeet Sharma committed the crime in a fit of rage and it was known to nine other people, for over a month.
Suspecting that his wife was involved in illicit relations with the 19-year-old domestic help, Anup Kumar, Sharma shot him in the head. He then put Kumar’s phone on a bus to make it seem like he was traveling, if the calls were triangulated.
On 12 June, a missing person’s report was filed by Kumar’s brother. Police have arrested five others, including the couple while two persons are evading arrest.

A 25-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide in her home in Sector 8, Faridabad over what appears to be a case of a dowry death.
The woman’s father, Sher Singh filed the complaint, as he said she had been married to her husband in 2011 and was being harassed by her husband and in-laws over dowry.
Singh also said that when he called his daughter back home, her husband and in-laws would made excuses to not let her stay with her parents.
