A 55-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly sexually harassing his daughter and threatening to sell her off into flesh trade, police said on Friday.
Arun Tiwari was arrested following a complaint by his wife for allegedly harassing their daughter over the past two years, Pravin Yadav, SHO Surajpur said.

National-level kabaddi player Rohit Kumar and his father were arrested on Friday in connection with the alleged suicide by the former's wife Lalita who had accused him and her in-laws of harassment.
Rohit, who is in the navy, was detained and later arrested by a team of Delhi Police in Mumbai this afternoon, said a senior police officer.
The kabaddi player will be produced in a Mumbai court where police will seek his transit remand to Delhi for further investigation, he said.

Three persons have been arrested for fraudulently withdrawing an amount of around Rs 43 lakh from the bank account of a man who died in 2013 here, police said, adding that a hunt was on for two more accused.
According to ACP (crime) Rajesh Kumar Chechi, Vedprakash, a resident of Sarai Khwaja, had filed a complaint alleging that unidentified persons had withdrawn an amount of Rs 42.90 lakh from the bank account of his father Srichand, who passed away in 2013.

A 32-year-old woman was allegedly attacked with acid by her husband over dowry issue in Mohiddipur village here, police said on Friday.
The victim was being harassed for dowry by her husband Javed Akhtar, and Thursday night after a severe beating he threw acid on her, according to an FIR filed by her father.
Akhtar had been demanding a car and other household items and had been beating her over it, he told police.

Half-burnt body of a 37-year-old woman was taken off from a burning pyre by police when her in-laws were performing her last rites following her mysterious death in Ukawli village here.
The body of Sonia was taken into custody by police last evening allegedly after she committed suicide by hanging from ceiling at her house, SHO of Budhana police station, D K Tyagi said. Her husband Deni and in-laws were trying to cremate her without reporting the death to police, he said, adding that a probe has been launched into the death. Police are suspecting it to be a case of dowry harassment.

The body of an unidentified middle-aged man was found in a lake in Vitthalwadi town here, police said on Friday.
Some locals on Thursday spotted the body floating in the lake, following which they informed the police who retrieved it and sent it for postmortem.
According to police, the man was first strangulated to death and then his hands were tied from behind. The body was later dumped in the lake in Manere village, they said.

The district police on Friday arrested two youths for allegedly raping a 21-year-old girl, a student of an engineering college. while another was held on charges of sending lewd messages to her.
“On 19 October , when the girl was retuning to her hostel, one of the two accused, who too is an engineering student, requested her to help him with a project,” said a police officer from Lonikand police station.
The girl asked him to get the project-related files. The accused went to his room and called the girl to say he could not find the files.
