In an apparent case of honour killing, a 19-year-old girl was allegedly killed by her mother and two brothers, when she became pregnant before marriage, in Ranga Reddy district on Thursday. The incident came to light on Friday.
According to police, Manjula was the only daughter of Soni and Devla Islavath. For the last one month, Manjula had reported sick and had been taking treatment at a nearby clinic.
When she did not recover, her mother got suspicious and took her to a diagnostic centre on Thursday, where reports confirmed that Manjula was pregnant, police said.

A 16-year-old student was allegedly raped by her friend in Kalapathar. The suspect took the girl with him to a lodge while she was returning home and raped her.
According to the Kalapathar police, the victim was a resident of Bilalnagar and was studying in Class IX. Nearly a month ago, she became friends with one Imran, a neighbour.
On Thursday evening, while she was returning home, one Ilyas Ahmed took her on his bike. She returned home at night and complained of pain. When her parents took her to hospital, they found that she was raped, police said.

AAP's Narela MLA Sharad Chauhan and seven others, including a Delhi Police officer, have been chargesheeted for abetting the suicide of a woman AAP worker, who was also allegedly harassed by them. The 68-page document filed at Karkardooma court cites 66 witnesses.
Police have included WhatsApp messages and intercepted calls as evidence apart from the contents of a WhatsApp group and a video that's been considered a dying declaration. More specifically, it was a WhatsApp message by the woman in which she said, "I have been falsely implicated by the men and the MLA. I have lost in my struggle for truth."

The Pune Police on Thursday arrested a man who was allegedly harassing a former Miss India International-cum-actress, Neha Hinge, on a social media site. The accused allegedly threatened to kill Hinge after she refused to chat with him on a social media site and forbid him to post her pictures.
Vijaymala Pawar, assistant police inspector with Pune Police’s cyber crime wing, said, “Hinge said a person unknown to her had created a fake account in her name on Instagram and created a friends’ group on the site.”
Pawar said the accused had “started posting her pictures on the site and tagging her friends”.
“When Hinge asked the accused to refrain from posting her pictures, the accused threatened to kill her and posted more images of her,” he added.

A nine-year-old girl was strangled to death on Wednesday night and her body was found from the bathroom of an unoccupied flat at C Block, IDA colony in Nipaniya area in Indore.
Police sources said victim Vaishnavi Bohare, resident of A Block of the same colony, had gone out to play and went missing around 2:30 pm. Initially, her parents thought that she might have gone for the immersion procession along with others. As it got late, they started searching for her and found her lying in the flat.

It has emerged that mastermind of Mumbai’s multi-crore extortion racket, 23-year-old Sagar Thakkar aka Shaggy gifted his 21-year-old girlfriend a Rs 2.5 crore Audi R8 on her birthday.
Shaggy had run the racket through a Mira Road based call centre that duped unsuspecting American clients.
Shaggy’s reach is allegedly till Dubai where a business of his used to fund the racket.

A casual conversation with a stranger in a train made a family suffer for more than five years, as the stranger befriended their minor daughter and raped her repeatedly. Five years after the incident, a local court convicted him to undergo 10-year imprisonment.
The convict, Ajeez Mohammed Sanaulla, hails from Jharkhand and worked as a cook. He had taken a room on rent in Whitefield and was living with his friends.
He was sentenced to 10-year simple imprisonment for rape and levied a penalty of Rs 5,000. He was also convicted to undergo one-year imprisonment on kidnapping charges.

Thieves broke into six cars and stole stereo systems and cash from each between 12 am and 6 am near Hardkar Hospital at Ramchandra Nagar in Tilak Nagar, Dombivli on Thursday. Police said the stereo systems were collectively worth Rs 61,000.
The incident came to light when one of the car owners leaving for work saw that not only his car, but several nearby had been broken into. The other car owners were alerted.
Police have detained two history sheeters and suspect that two minors were also involved.

Excise team seized Cannabis plants (ganja plants) from a house at Kunnamangalam on Friday. The Kunnamangalam excise team also arrested a man in connection with the incident.
The excise officials have registered a case against the accused under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Any person found cultivating a cannabis plant will be sentenced to rigorous imprisonment up to ten years, and a fine of Rs 1 lakh.
