A man on Tuesday allegedly stabbed to death a teenage girl whom he had befriended on social media posing as a woman.
Amit Yadav, a 24-year-old who made the account in the name of Atharva, also attacked the girl’s mother. According to the police, Yadav stabbed Priya Rawat (17) at her house in Geeta Nagar in Indore. When her mother Kiran tried to intervene, Yadav stabbed her too, wounding her critically.
Palasia police station in-charge Rajendra Soni said the girl succumbed at the hospital while her mother was undergoing treatment.

Two sadhus were found murdered in a temple in Murain Ka Purwa village in Amethi district on Tuesday, police said.
Chandrika Mishra (70) and Sita Ram Raidas (75) were found murdered with a sharp weapon and their faces crushed with a heavy object, police said.
Based on a complaint filed by Chandrika Mishra’s son Dinesh, an FIR against unknown people was lodged by police.

A 37-year-old man allegedly stabbed his sister to death following a spat in Old Navy Nagar in south Mumbai on Tuesday, police said.
The victim, Rajashree Mehrotra, was married but was staying with her brother, Shyam, and her mother due to a strained relationship with her husband, a senior police official said.
Shyam often quarrelled with her as she was not living with her husband. The two had a heated exchange on the issue and Shyam allegedly stabbed Rajashree with a kitchen knife.
Their mother was also injured in the scuffle.
Shyam fled from the house after the incident.

Unhappy over not having a grandson, a woman allegedly killed her two-month-old grand-daughter by strangling her and then hurling her to the floor in Haryana’s Bahadurgarh town on Tuesday, police said.
The infant’s mother has alleged that when she gave birth to the girl child nearly two months back, her in-laws started harassing her and asked her to stay back at her parent’s house.

Gurgaon police have arrested a 21-year-old man from Najafgarh in Delhi for allegedly killing his mother and sister a week ago, suspecting them of being involved in prostitution.
Two others were also held for aiding the suspect, Sumit, in the alleged ‘honour killing’. Two country-made pistols and cartridges, apart from a car, were recovered from them.

A 12-year-old girl was on Tuesday allegedly gangraped by five men in Lucknow who had barged into her house and robbed her family.
Two dozen unidentified miscreants forced their way into the family’s house and after looting valuables, held them hostage before taking away the girl with them.
“The girl has told me that she was raped by five men. The incident took place around 600-700 metres away from the girl’s house. We are probing the matter and a team has been constituted to probe the case,” senior superintendent of police (SSP) Manzil Saini told reporters.

Just two months after his wife and daughter committed suicide, ex-Director General of Ministry of Corporate Affairs BK Bansal and his son Yogesh allegedly committed suicide on Tuesday.
Their bodies were found hanging in different rooms in their flat in Neelkanth Apartments in Madhu Vihar in East Delhi, police said.
Bansal was allegedly accused in a bribery case and had been arrested by the CBI.
Police said a suicide note was recovered from the spot. It said the CBI raid had caused them “great humiliation” and they did not want to live anymore.

A 29-year-old woman in Pune allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in her house due to dowry harassment by her husband and in-laws, police said.
Sachin Gadekar (27), brother of the victim Suvarna Lokhande, lodged a complaint with Mundhwa police station in Pune on Sunday. Earlier, police had registered an accidental death (AD) case in the matter.
According to the complaint, Suvarna married Nitin Lokhande in 2007. It was an arranged marriage. Nitin and her in-laws began harassing her for dowry subsequently, police said.

A 59-year-old woman and her 38-year-old daughter-in-law were found murdered in Bengaluru on Monday.
The assailants hacked the duo to death and made away with valuables.
The victims have been identified as Santoshi and her daughter-in-law Latha.
