Narendra Gehlot was waylaid by two men wearing helmets, who fired at least a dozen rounds at him, two of which hit Gehlot. It was found that he was earlier accused in a case of attempt to murder and cheating.

The incident happened around 4.30pm when 42-year-old Gehlot was sitting in his car after stepping out of his office. The men wearing helmets blocked his way and fired indiscriminately at the car. 3. Gangster Held With 40 Illegal Pistols

In a major arms haul, Delhi Police’s Crime Branch arrested a notorious interstate gangster with a cache of arms and ammunition, which were to be supplied to gangs of outer and southwest Delhi. The consignment comprised an improvised carbine, 40 sophisticated pistols and twenty spare magazines.

The arms were hidden inside a defunct CNG tank of a car that had been modified to look like a functional tank. The suspect, Irshad Khan, is estimated to have supplied over 1,000 pistols to city’s criminals in the past.

DCP (Crime) Ram Gopal Naik said his teams had been collecting intelligence about weapon suppliers in Delhi when they stumbled upon the three suspects. “The criminal records of the persons, who were previously involved in manufacturing and supply of illegal weapons, were checked and it was revealed that in most of the cases, illegal weapons were manufactured and supplied from Meerut, Mewat, Mathura, Munger (Bihar) and Madhya Pradesh to criminals active in NCR,” Naik said.

4. 15-Km Trail of Blood as Man’s Body Tied to Bike and Dragged

It was unlike any other murder, and the sheer brutality of it shocked even the policemen in crime-infested Meerut on Tuesday morning. A 21-year-old youth was tied to a motorcycle by his neck and dragged for over 15km by unidentified persons.

The youth’s body bore a bullet wound and his left foot went almost missing due to prolonged dragging, police said, adding that they were not sure if the youth, Mukul Kumar, was shot dead before being tied and dragged.

SP (rural) Avinash Pandey said, “The body bore several injury marks on face and head. Left foot was missing and the other one was badly mutilated. We traced the blood trail to 15km near Mandi area of Hapur district, where Mukul lived with his family. So, it clearly suggests that the body was dragged for such a long distance and dumped in Meerut’s Kharkhoda area. A motorcycle was also found near him.” The mutilated body was spotted by passersby on Tuesday morning near an underconstruction underpass close to Dheerkheda village.
