1. Rahul Gandhi embarks on 15 km padayatra in Telangana today

Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi will embark on a two-day visit to Telangana beginning today which would include a 15-km ‘padayatra’ in Adilabad district. According to Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, TPCC working President, Rahul’s visit is to highlight the plight of farmers in the country in general and state in particular. He will stay in Nrimal town tonight, he said.

2. PM Modi to embark on his China trip today – which will continue till May 16. The trip was announced on microblogging website Weibo

Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday officially announced his visit to China from May 14 to 16 on the microblog website Weibo, saying that he is looking forward to having productive discussions with top Chinese leadership.

3. Rajnath Singh to review anti-naxal ops in Nagpur

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh will reach Nagpur today to undertake a review of the anti-naxal operations in the eastern Vidarbha region. Singh will review anti-naxal operations in the eastern Vidarbha region while holding a meeting at the state guest house ‘Ravi Bhawan’ here in the afternoon, Ravindra Kadam, Inspector General of Police, Nagpur Range who is also Deputy IG anti-naxal operations (Gadchiroli), told PTI.

4. Left parties to stage protest against Land Bill

Left parties will stage a nation-wide protest against the Land Acquisition Bill today – as announced by the Communist Party of India (CPI) General Secretary S Sudhakar Reddy yesterday.

5. AITUC to hold nationwide protests against Land Bill

All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) had on Thursday said that the land acquisition Bill by the Centre will help corporate and land mafia in grabbing farmers’ land and that it will launch a nationwide protest against the legislation. The protest will be held today.

6. Arms Act case: Jodhpur court will rule on Salman Khan’s plea today

A court in Jodhpur will rule today on Bollywood star Salman Khan’s petition to be allowed to introduce six fresh witnesses in a case registered against him under the Arms Act over the shooting of some endangered animals in 1998. District and sessions court judge Manoj Vyas had reserved his order on Monday and set the next hearing for today after hearing the arguments of the defence and prosecution lawyers.

7. Stakeholder meeting on e-commerce FDI policy to take place today

The government will hold a meeting of all the stakeholders – including industry chambers CII and Ficci – today on foreign direct investment in e-commerce retailing. The meeting will be chaired by Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, an official said.

8. Delhi court to hear complaint against Smriti Irani

A Delhi court will today hear a complaint filed against Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani for allegedly giving “false” information about her educational qualification in her affidavits filed with the Election Commission of India.

9. Snake ‘classic mobile game’ returns after 18 years to smartphones
