The Chairman of Apollo Hospitals on 19 July said that there was "no interference" in the treatment carried out on former Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa and the organisation is ready to face any probe.

Speaking to reporters in Chennai on Tuesday, Apollo Hospital Group's Founder Chairman Prathap C Reddy said:

We have all the data. There was no interference in the medical treatment given to her (Jayalalithaa).

He said Jayalalithaa was improving well, but suddenly suffered a cardiac arrest.

Jayalalithaa was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Chennai on 22 September 2016 for fever and dehydration. She was in the hospital till she passed away on 5 December 2016.

In March, the Tamil Nadu government had released the health records of the late Tamil Nadu chief minister. The government had combined reports from two hospitals – Apollo and AIIMS. The report stated that her health kept deteriorating.

Several political parties, including former Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, have demanded a detailed probe into the treatment given to Jayalalithaa and the circumstances that led to her hospitalisation.

In February, a delegation of AIADMK MP’s had submitted a memorandum to the President asking for a judicial inquiry or a CBI probe into the death of former Jayalalithaa. The AIADMK faction led by Panneerselvam had also put across probe into Jayalalithaa’s death as one of the demands for merger between the two factions.

The DMK had also promised a probe into her death if they came into power.

Two PILs were filed in the Supreme Court asking for judicial investigation into the death of Jayalalithaa. A PIL was filed by a Chennai-based NGO Telugu Yuva Sakshi and another one was filed by AIADMK MP Sasikala Pushpa. However, later the Supreme Court had dismissed her petition after not finding any merit in it.
