  • PM Modi returned from his four-nation tour to Africa on early Tuesday morning.

  • He had visited Tanzania, South Africa, Mozambique and Kenya as part of the tour and has seen some strategic developments in the foreign relations with the four countries.

  • While India offered USD 92 million as credit to Tanzania for a key water supply project and signed five agreements, in South Africa PM Modi held talks with President Jacob Zuma on an extensive range of issues, particularly in the economic sphere.

  • In Mozambique, PM Modi signed three pacts, including a “long term agreement” under which India will buy pulses from Mozambique to meets its recurring shortfall and contain the prices of this commodity. With Kenya, PM Modi signed seven pacts, including in the field of defence and security and avoidance of double taxation.
