On Sunday evening, PM Modi launched the country’s first ever solar powered e-boats on the Ganga in Varanasi, his home constituency. The launch took place at Varanasi’s Assi Ghat, the same place where Modi had launched the Clean India campaign, The Times of India reported.

Modi distributed eleven e-boats to their owners after which he himself took a ride on one. In the speech that followed, the PM took potshots at the Congress.

Wo sarkarey gayi jo sirf amiro ko diya karti thi, ye sarkar unkey liye hai jinka duniya me koyi nahi (gone are the governments that gave everything to wealthy people, this government is for those who have nobody for help).”

He cautioned boatmen not to misuse their income, which will increase by conversion of their manual or diesel motor boats into e-boats, for consuming liquor.

He added that e-rickshaws and e-boats would not only help the economic growth of the city but also make its environment cleaner.
