J&K Governor Meets Home Minister

Jammu and Kashmir Governor NN Vohra met Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday and discussed the issues concerning the state with him.

During the 40-minute meeting, Singh and Vohra reviewed the ground situation in the valley and the steps taken to control it. Issues like infiltration from across the border, activities of separatists and street protests by students were discussed at the meeting, official sources said.

The situation along the border, where two soldiers were beheaded by the Pakistan Army, also figured in the meeting.

The Governor is expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi too.

On Monday, seven people, five of them policemen, were killed by Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists after being dragged out of a bank's cash van in Kulgam district.

Pakistan Planned Attack on India

The Border Security Force has said that Pakistan’s attack on the Indian soldiers was well-planned.

Pakistan’s army was the first to attack four Indian posts, NDTV reported.

Arun Jaitley Briefs Prime Minister Modi

Arun Jaitley, who shares responsibility of both defence and finance ministry briefed Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the barbarianism of Pakistan at the LoC in Poonch, CNN-News18 reported.

DGMO's to Discuss the LoC Situation

Local commanders established hotline contact on Monday between the Indian and Pakistani authorities. Pakistan asserted that there was no crossing of the LoC by its troops, nor were any bodies of Army men mutilated.

Another hotline contact between the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) is likely to take place between India and Pakistan on Tuesday.

"Army Given Free Hand to Respond"

In the aftermath of the latest Indo-Pak border violence, the Indian government has reportedly given the Army a ‘free hand’ to retaliate to the attack.

The Pakistani Army’s Border Action Team (BAT) had sneaked into Indian territory under the pretence of the shelling, and ambushed a patrol operating over 200 meters into Indian territory by the LoC at Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district.

While fire assaults are already underway in different sectors of the LoC, the retaliation for the Pakistan army’s unsoldierly act in mutilating the bodies will be well-planned and executed at a time and place of our choosing.

An army JCO and a BSF head constable were killed as Pakistan fired rockets at a forward defence location (FDL) post of the paramilitary force along the LoC in Poonch.

The ceasefire violation took place around 8:30 am. Naib Subedar Paramjeet Singh and Head Constable Prem Sagar of the BSF's 200 Battalion were killed in the attack and their bodies were mutilated.
