Sheena Bora murder-accused Peter Mukerjea may have sexually harassed her in early 2009. In an exclusive interview with The Quint, Mikhail Bora, the Guwahati-based son of Indrani Mukerjea who is the prime accused in the April 2012 murder, has hinted at such a possibility.
Speaking with The Quint in Guwahati, Mikhail said that Sheena revealed that Peter may have made advances on Sheena a few months before she was admitted to the Gurgaon-based Artemis Hospital in June 2009 for “acute onset of breathing difficulty, anxiety, unknown fear and lack of sleep.” Mikhail claims that Sheena’s Bangalore-based former boyfriend Kaustav Saikia and he were present when she made this revelation.
Here’s an excerpt from The Quint’s interview with Mikhail:
While this could come close to constituting Peter’s motive for being a part of Indrani’s plan to murder Sheena on 24 April 2012, Mikhail said that it was after this revelation that Rahul, who had reached Bangalore by that time, took away Sheena to Mumbai.
Peter Failed Polygraph Test After Being Questioned on Sheena
Rahul is Peter’s son from his earlier marriage to Dehradun-based Shabnam Singh.
Peter was questioned by both Mumbai Police and the CBI, but he is said to have denied having any sexual encounter with Sheena. CBI sources had earlier told The Quint that in a polygraph test conducted on him while in CBI custody, Peter is said to have failed when a particular question regarding any possible physical relations with Sheena was asked.
A month after the CBI took over the case from Mumbai Police, on 25 October 2015, Shabnam Singh gave a curious statement to the agency. She claimed, “I did not know that Sheena ever conceived, and underwent an MTP (Medical Termination of Pregnancy).”
Shabnam made this comment in the context of events in 2008 and 2009, which she narrated to the CBI in her eight-page statement, a copy of which was accessed by The Quint. In all likelihood, Shabnam made this statement in response to a specific question.
Dr Harsh Saini, who treated Sheena for anxiety at Artemis Hospital in Gurgaon, revealed to The Quint that a person who described himself as Sheena’s father had admitted her for treatment.
Was Sheena Bora Killed in a Car or at Peter Mukerjea’s Residence?
Dr Saini said that when he sought to examine what might have caused her anxiety, Sheena said it had something to do with her when she was in college.
Sheena attended St. Xavier’s College in Mumbai between 2005 and 2008 and lived with the Mukerjeas at their Marlow residence. Dr Saini, however, said that Sheena did not disclose the cause of her anxiety. She was discharged on 6 June 2009, in a “stable condition.”
What happened before Sheena was admitted at Artemis is not clear. The CBI has made attempts to probe whether an alleged sexual encounter between Peter and Sheena was a proximate motive for her murder in April 2012. Surprisingly, instead of undergoing treatment for anxiety in Mumbai, Sheena was admitted to a hospital in Gurgaon.
While Sheena did not explicitly reveal to the Artemis psychiatrist whether a sexual encounter caused her anxiety, the CBI was particularly interested in digging deep. This could likely have a bearing on Peter’s motive to conspire with Indrani to murder Sheena.
