Prime Minister Narendra Modi's move to scrap Rs 500, Rs 1,000 notes last week sent many into a tizzy. The demonetisation decision has also led to the deaths of many, mainly the elderly, while waiting for hours outside bank and ATMs to get the new currency notes.
Answering a query on the deaths, BJP national vice-president Vinay Sahasrabuddhe on Monday said that “people sometimes die waiting in queue for ration”.
He also equated PM Modi's decision to a satyagraha during an informal press interaction in Bhopal.
According to a Hindustan Times report, his remark came after he was asked if the the government was aware that people would die in this satyagraha.
