Pathankot Attack: NIA Draws Similarities With Samba and Kathua

NIA teams visit Samba, Kathua regions; draw similarities between terror attacks in Samba and Pathankot.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is visiting the Samba and Kathua regions in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday as a part of the investigation in the Pathankot terror attack.

The NIA has drawn similarities between the terror attacks in Samba and Kathua, and the Pathankot air base.

The gunmen had hijacked a vehicle of an SP-level police officer on the intermediate night of 31 December and 1 January.

The car was found a few kilometres ahead of the place of hijack. the gunmen had left a letter, threatening further attacks in regions between Tangdhar and Delhi, including Samba, Kathua, and Rajbagh, according to a report by The Indian Express.

The letter is believed to be written by members of the Jaish-e-Mohammad, a terror group with its origins in Pakistan.

According to sources at the NIA, the group which attacked an army camp in Samba, was carrying enough supplies to last a long fight with security forces.

They had also holed themselves inside a civilian house opposite the army camp before escaping through a canal.
