Man Lynched in Haryana’s Palwal on Suspicion of Cattle Theft 

An FIR has been filed against three villagers for the lynching. One man has also been arrested.

In another lynching incident, on the night of 2 August, Thursday, a young man was beaten to death by villagers in Haryana’s Palwal on suspicion of cattle theft.

THE INCIDENT

According to the police, the incident took place on Thursday night on the outskirts of Bahraula village, where one family was staying. According to the Sadar police station SHO Devender Singh, the family said that three thieves were trying to steal cattle.

Other villagers were awoken by the ensuing chaos and managed to catch one of the alleged cattle thieves and beat the boy to death. However, two of the men managed to escape, Singh told The Quint.

WHAT HAPPENED AFTER

The body of the deceased, who has not been identified yet, has been kept in the mortuary of Government Hospital, Palwal, for a period of 72 hours, said Suresh Kumar, the investigating officer in the case.

He told The Quint that a post-mortem had been conducted on the body and the report was awaited. Attempts to identify the deceased are underway, with his photograph being published in the newspapers. According to the police, he was approximately 25 years old. The police said that it seems that the deceased was an outsider.

ACTION TAKEN BY THE POLICE

An FIR has been filed by the police against three villagers who beat the boy to death. According to the police, one man has also been arrested in connection with the lynching.

This incident of lynching comes two weeks after Rakbar Khan was beaten to death in Alwar district of Rajasthan on suspicion of cattle theft.
