Over 150 Booked in MP's Neemuch After Sloganeering Against Narottam Mishra

Provocative slogans were allegedly raised terming the police action on the violence in Khargone as biased.

Over 150 people were booked by the Madhya Pradesh Police after slogans were raised against the state's Home Minister Narottam Mishra in Neemuch on Friday, 15 April.

On Friday, provocative slogans were allegedly raised against the police, the state's home minister, and the chief minister, terming the police action on the violence in Khargone as biased. The protesters also allegedly called Mishra a 'terrorist' during the protest.

"We've registered a case against 11 identified and unknown persons in the matter," SP Neemuch Suraj Verma told reporters. The case has been filed against the accused for violating the state administration-imposed curfew, and has been registered under IPC Section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant).

On Friday, a large number of members of MIC Neemuch had reached the SP's office to give a memorandum regarding the Khargone case.

SP Neemuch Suraj Verma said, "These people had gathered to give the memorandum and before giving the memorandum, they raised objectionable and provocative slogans, taking cognizance of which a case has been registered in which 11 people have been named as accused and some other unknown people also."

“Apart from this, action has been taken to get the bond filled by these people so they do not repeat this. We are also monitoring social media platforms to ensure no one posts such objectionable content. We appeal to all to celebrate their respective festivals with joy but refrain from posting inflammatory or objectionable posts,” he added.
