One terrorist was killed in an encounter with security forces in Hajin area of Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, 1 March, ANI reported. After the terrorist was gunned down, combing operations were underway in the area.

The Director General of Police (DGP) of the state, Shesh Paul Vaid, wrote on Twitter that one Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist, who wasn’t Indian, was killed in a joint operation of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, army, and the CRPF.

Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in village Shakurdin of Hajin area on Wednesday, 28 February, following information about presence of militants there, a police official told PTI.

He said the search operation turned into an encounter after militants began opening fire towards security forces.

Two days ago, another LeT militant, believed to be from Pakistan, was injured in a gunfight with security forces in Bandipora. He succumbed to his injuries soon after, PTI reported quoting local police.
