In a bizarre case, a Kolkata resident dialled up the Flipkart helpline number after having received the wrong order. Little did the customer know that he would end up getting a direct gateway to the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) in the form of a primary membership offer, NDTV reported.
The football lover on condition of anonymity told NDTV that he ordered two sets of headphones to watch late night football matches in silence. However, the package delivered by the e-retail giant contained only a bottle of oil.
The customer infuriated at the faulty order, called on to complain but was disconnected after one ring.
Before finding the correct helpline number, the complainant shared the numbers with his friends and discovered that 1800 266 1001 was a BJP number.
The shopping portal too, responded to the fan’s complaint.
According to NDTV, in a statement, the e-commerce company said the number, which became unusable three years ago, was printed on tape used for packing and and apparently some of that packing tape was left, leading to the blunder.
Denying any link to the Flipkart package, Dilip Ghosh, the Bengal state BJP chief said:
