Goa Police on Monday issued fresh summons to singer Remo Fernandes after he failed to appear before the Agassaim Police station on account of this Europe trip.

We have issued fresh summons (to Remo) to remain present on December 23. His son (Jonah) has also been called for questioning.
Jivba Dalvi, Police Inspector

While Jonah has been summoned in the morning, Remo has been called for in the evening on Wednesday.

Summons were originally issued to Remo for verbally abusing a minor girl, who was injured by a car allegedly driven by his son on December 1. The ‘O Meri Munni’ singer, 62, was also in the car, which hit the 17-year-old girl.

Remo was asked to be present at Agacaim police station at 10 am on Monday. But he has confirmed that he will not be able to appear before the police as he is currently touring in Europe.

I will be unable to be present at court tomorrow, 21st December, as I am in Europe to attend to some very urgent work and meetings. This trip was planned months ago, and the ticket was booked on 17th August 2015. Attaching a scan of the ticket here, and its authenticity can be verified at Qatar Airways. My lawyers will be attending court tomorrow on my behalf of course.

Both complaints (rash driving and causing hurt) are total lies, fabricated by a person who wishes very hard to malign me.

Police have already recorded the statement of the girl and her elder sister, both natives of neighbouring Malvan town in Maharashtra.

The statement of the staff from GMCH who were on duty when incident happened has also been recorded.

On December 2, the girl was walking towards Old Goa to complete her vow to St Francis Xaviers when she was allegedly hit by the car of Fernandes’s son Jonah

Agassaim Police officials had pasted the summons on the door of the 62-year-old singer’s residence in Siolim after they did not find him there on Saturday night.

According to the first information report (FIR) filed by the girl’s lawyer, Aires Rodrigues, Remo verbally abused her on December 3 in ward number 105 of the Goa Medical College in Bambolim, where she was hospitalised for treatment.

The FIR was filed under the Goa Children’s Act, a special legislation specifically dealing with crimes against children in the state.

On December 1, an FIR was filed against Remo’s son Jonah at the Mapusa police station in north Goa on charge of rash driving and causing hurt.
