If delicious junk food is what you need to make a boring train ride interesting, say no more. Indian Railways has made food from chains like Domino’s, KFC, McDonald’s and Sagar Ratna available onboard Rajdhani and Shatabdi trains, reported Hindustan Times. Other food-chains Indian Railways have tied up with include Switz Foods, Only Alibaba, Haldiram, Bikanerwala, Nirula’s and Pizza Hut.
Starting from 15 June, passengers will be able to pre-order their meals and get it delivered to their seats. Orders can be placed online or via phone calls or SMS.
Additionally, mandatory meals in these trains have been made optional.
There are certain route specific variations as well for passengers. Those travelling from Ludhiana to Delhi by Shatabdi only have the option of ordering from Domino’s and restaurants in Ludhiana like Gyan Vegetarian and Babbi Fish and Chicken.
The food can be ordered by visiting www.ecatering.irctc.co.in, said Rajneesh Srivastava, Divisional Commercial Manager.
For stations that fall under Ferozepur division of Northern Railways, KFC and McDonald’s have not begun delivering yet, reported HT.
