Questions are being raised regarding the Bhopal encounter of eight SIMI members, left, right and centre.

Many from the Opposition are hinting at the encounter being fake and now Trinamool Congress’ Mamata Banerjee said on Wednesday she does not agree with the “so-called encounter theory”.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal asked for an independent investigation in reply to Mamata Banerjee’s tweets.

Earlier on Tuesday, BSP supremo Mayawati demanded a judicial probe into the encounter, accusing the MP government of using the police for fulfilling the RSS agenda.

She said in a statement that the operatives were unarmed and “could have been arrested easily again but no attempts were made in this regard. Prima facie this matter appears suspicious.”

Also hinting at the encounter being fake, Congress’ Digvijay Singh made a controversial remark saying, “Why do only Muslims break out of jail and not Hindus?”

On Monday, eight SIMI members escaped from the Bhopal Central Jail. Within hours of their escape, they were tracked and shot dead by police forces.
