US President Donald Trump has said that he has requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to release the amount of hydroxychloroquine ordered by the United States after India last month banned the drugs for exports.
Trump said that he spoke to Prime Minister Modi on Saturday morning and made a request to release hydroxychloroquine for the US.
"I called Prime Minister Modi of India this morning. They make large amounts of Hydroxychloroquine. India is giving it a serious consideration," Trump said at his daily news conference at the White House on Saturday.
Seven Indian nationals are among the 75 new coronavirus cases confirmed in Singapore, taking the total infections to 1,189 since the deadly diseases broke out in the country.
Of the new cases, 69 are local infections. Six are imported with a travel history to Europe, North and South America and ASEAN, said the Ministry of health on Saturday.
Six Indian nationals, between the ages of 18 and 52, are on work passes.

Ahmedabad, Apr 5 (PTI) A 61-year-old woman who tested positive for coronavirus died at a hospital in Surat on Sunday, taking the total number of COVID-19 deaths in Gujarat to 11, a senior health official said.
"The woman was admitted to hospital on Saturday in a condition where it was difficult to save her," Principal Secretary (Health) Jayanti Ravi said.

HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal said the decision on when to reopen schools and colleges will be taken on 14 April.
“Government will take a decision on 14 April whether to reopen schools, colleges after reviewing COVID-19 situation,” he told news agency PTI.
Himachal Pradesh CM Jai Ram Thakur urged people from the state who attended the Tablighi Jamaat to disclose their identity by 5 pm or else face government action, ANI reported.
"Total 13 coronavirus positive cases reported in the state so far, 6 out of them had attended Tablighi Jamaat in Delhi. We appeal to everyone who attended Tablighi Jamaat to disclose their identity by 5 PM today otherwise government will be forced to take action," he said.

Two persons tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Bhubaneswar, raising the number of cases of the pandemic in Odisha to 23 on Sunday, reports PTI, citing a Health Department official.
A 70-year-old man from the Kapila Prasad Housing Board Colony Phase II, who had returned from Australia on 22 March, tested positive for COVID-19, a Health Department official said. A total of 16 out of the 23 patients in the state, are from Bhubaneswar.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Sunday that the total number of COVID-19 positive cases in India has risen to 3,577 with 83 recorded deaths. It also said that there has been a spike of 505 positive cases in the last 24 hours.
Nine cases have bee registered under Section 188 against people who broke quarantine rules, DCP of Shahadra said.
“During physical verification conducted by police at 517 addresses where people were home quarantined, it was found that 11 persons were not at home. 9 cases under Sec 188 IPC registered today and previously, 2 cases were registered in Shahdara,” he added.
Eight Tanzanian national have been booked for violating quarantine orders & visa rules in Pune. All of them belong to Tablighi Jamaat and had come to Pune on 11 March.
They were tested for COVID-19 on 24 March and all were found negative.
‘One more COVID-19 patient has been discharged from the hospital after being cured,’ Chattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel told news agency ANI.

As many as 62 new coronavirus positive cases were reported in Telangana on Sunday, 5 April, with no patients discharged and no deaths. The state presently has 289 active COVID-19 positive cases which are being treated at different hospitals across the state.
The Health Ministry on Sunday, 5 April said that it has come to its notice that Bione Ventures, Bengaluru is offering rapid single-use finger-prick test for coronavirus for sale which will give result in 5-10 minutes.
“Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation has not licensed the aforesaid diagnostic kit by Bione Ventures,” the ministry said, ANI reported.
On Sunday, 5 April, one out of 33 people of Tablighi Jamaat, has tested positive, ANI reported quoting Punjab Chief Secretary Karan Bir Singh Sidhu.
“He was living in Kot Karar Khan village in Kapurthala. He was residing at a mosque along with other Jamaatis,” Sidhu added.
