Backing the Government’s decision to ban the British filmmaker Leslee Udwin’s India’s Daughter on the Delhi gang rape, Nirbhaya’s friend and the sole witness of the incident, Avanindra Pandey described the controversial documentary as fake, as reported by CNN-IBN.

“The documentary is unbalanced as the victim’s viewpoint is missing. The facts are hidden and the content is fake. Only Jyoti and I know what happened on that night and the documentary is far from truth,” he said.

Pandey also revealed that he was oblivious of any tutor called Satendra, mentioned in the documentary. “Avanindra Pandey wanted to watch an action film while Jyoti wanted to watch Life of Pi.” Moreover, how does he know which movie I wanted to watch on that night,” Nirbhaya’s friend told the news channel.

According to Pandey, the documentary has created an unwanted controversy and simply sensationalized a sensitive issue. “It made fun of fun of emotions and questioned the law and order situation in our country,” he said.

Adding to that Pandey also told the news channel that the documentary has dented the country’s image and questioned the security and administration situation of law authorities and prison authorities. As per him, the world now knows that anyone can get into a high-security prison to interview criminals.

As a matter of fact, Pandey too was approached for many such documentary filmmakers since 2013, including Udwin and many representatives from the BBC. “I was approached by many people and it started one and a half years ago. I did not want to be part of it as I was not convinced by its motive. Also, I was not mentally prepared and had health issues as well,” Pandey said.
