A bookseller was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a foreign national student inside the premises of a school in Greater Noida. The man confessed to having assaulted the child for the last 3-4 years, police said.

A six-member internal committee has been formed to probe the allegations.

The 11-year-old student was allegedly sodomised by a man on the premises of a private school in Greater Noida on Tuesday, 24 October, said reports. The accused, who works as a bookseller in Kaushalya World School in Sector Pi, has been arrested.

As per News 18, the CBSE board has taken cognisance of the incident and will put out a statement soon. They might hold up the school authorities over charges of negligence.

A police official said that a complaint was made in the case after which the accused man was booked under Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code for “unnatural offence.”

The child, who is a student of Class VI, had allegedly gone to the stationary store at the school to buy a notebook when he was “tricked” by the shopkeeper, who went on to rape him, reported News X. After the boy complained to his parents, his mother registered an FIR at the local police station, stated the same report.

A police officer said:

The child was being assaulted since last 3-4 yrs but never told his parents. They came to us when they got to know. We’re investigating.
