Syrian anti-aircraft defence systems intercepted Israeli missiles launched at Syria on the morning of Thursday, 10 May, according to the official SANA news agency, which cited a military source.
The Israeli missiles were launched in retaliation after Iranian forces in Syria fired about 20 rockets and missiles at the part of the Golan Heights occupied by Israel, the Israeli army said.
Thursday, 10 May, marks the last day of campaigning in poll-bound state of Karnataka. Twenty-three BJP leaders, including Union Ministers Nirmala Sitharaman, Ananth Kumar, Piyush Goyal and Dharmendra Pradhan, will hold mega road shows in different parts of Karnataka.
The state goes to polls on 12 May, while the counting will be done on 15 May.
Addressing a press conference in Bengaluru on the last day of campaigning in Karnataka, Congress President Rahul Gandhi expressed his vision for the state while taking a dig at the prime minister. Rahul talked about the Congress manifesto, oppression of Dalits, atrocities against women, religion and Hinduism while he also addressed the PM's dig at his mother’s foreign lineage.
President Ram Nath Kovind on Thursday visited the Siachen base camp to meet the soldiers. Kovind is only the second president to visit the base camp after Dr APJ Abdul Kalam visited the camp in 2004.
