A huge posse of policemen, over a thousand CCTV cameras, an equal number of motorcycles and 500 other vehicles have been deployed in Ahmedabad to maintain law and order during New Year festivities, a senior official said on Sunday.

Elaborate arrangements had been put in place to ensure that people do not consume alcohol (Gujarat is a dry state) or drugs, an official said.
