The Reserve Bank of India will soon be issuing new Rs 10 notes, it said, in a press release issued on Friday, 5 January.
The new notes – having Chocolate Brown as the base colour – will be a part of the Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series.
On the reverse side, the new notes have motif of Sun Temple, Konark, to depict the country's cultural heritage, the RBI said.
The notes have geometric patterns and other designs on both the sides, the RBI added.
The bank also listed the salient features of the new notes. They are as follows:
Obverse (Front)
Reverse (Back)
The dimension of the banknote will be 63 mm x 123 mm.
The RBI added that while it is releasing new notes, it is not discontinuing the old ones. The old Rs 10 denomination notes would continue to be legal tender.
The new Rs 10 notes follow the release of new notes of Rs 50, Rs 200, which were released by the government on 25 August 2017.
