With floods ravaging most parts of Kerala, rescue efforts have been amped up by the state and central agencies. The Navy, in particular, has been receiving laurels from across the country for its for its timely response and efforts.
A viral video, tweeted initally by the Indian Navy's official handle on Monday, 13 August, shows a chopper airlifting a pregnant woman after her water broke. According to the tweet, a doctor was lowered to assess her situation before she was airlifted.
The woman, Sajita Jabeel, later gave birth to a boy, the spokesperson for the Indian Navy tweeted.
In another episode of bravery, a navy diver was hoisted onto the roof of a house in the state's Aluva, where he then rescued a child.
In a video, yet again shared by the Navy's official Twitter handle, shows flight driver Amit picking a child up from the roof, before being airlifted by a chopper. The chopper was manned by Cdr Vijay Verma, the tweet said.
People lauded the navy divers and team's efforts to step up and rescue as many people in the flooded state, even as 167 people lost their lives.
