Prime Minister Narendra Modi defended his government’s move of demonetising Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes yet again on Tuesday, but this time he used a medical metaphor at the Lok Sabha in his reply to the Motion of Thanks on President Pranab Mukherjee's address.

Since the economy was in strong condition, the timing of demonetisation was the best. When can you have an operation? When the body is healthy. The economy was doing well and thus our decision was taken at the right time.

Obviously, his cheeky defence didn’t go down to too well among the Twitteraties. If the body is healthy, why is an operation required right?

Here’s a look at a few funny takes on Modi’s comment.

"The earthquake finally occurred," Prime Minister Narendra Modi also said during the same address, while referring to last night's tremors in north India which he used to take a dig at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his comments made earlier.

Gandhi had said in December that he possessed certain materials against the Prime Minister and if he spoke in Parliament, there would be an "earthquake".

The earthquake finally occurred. I was wondering how it happened. I had heard of the threat long back. The reason for last night’s earthquake was that dharti maa was upset.

Later, a few people took to Twitter to have their say on the above remark by Modi as well.
