A 35-year-old journalist’s body was found in a mutilated condition in Haryana’s Dadri district in the late hours of Wednesday night. The Haryana police has formed a three-member special investigation team (SIT) to investigate the probable cause of death, based on a complaint of murder filed against unknown persons.
According to Ajit Singh, the deceased’s uncle, the journalist Rajesh Sheoran had gone to Dadri from his village Umarwas for some financial transactions on Tuesday evening, with a fellow villager. The family was informed of the incident only after the body was found.
Speaking to The Indian Express, Singh said that the family did not suspect anyone as Sheonar had no enmity against anyone.
According to IE, Shoenar’s body was found with the legs separated from the rest of the body. The police told the daily that it appeared as though the body had been repeatedly run over by a vehicle.
However, the police await a post mortem report to confirm the cause of death.
The former sarpanch of Umarwas Vijay Motu however ruled out accidental death, as Sheonar allegedly did not know how to drive. The Haryana Union of Working Journalists’ General Secretary Ajay Malhotra demanded that Sheonar’s family be given Rs 50 lakh and a government job, as compensation.
Sheonar is survived by his wife and three daughters. He was reportedly working as a freelance journalist for the past two years, after a stint with dailies like Dainik Bhaskar and Hari Bhoomi.
