The auto unions in Bhiwandi went on a strike from Wednesday, 28 November, to protest against the loss of livelihood due to bad roads and extensive municipal buses. The residents claimed that they had to face difficulty due to the strike.

As many as 19 auto unions formed a Mahasangh to protest after three auto-rickshaw drivers allegedly committed suicide in the last 45 days.

2. Tanushree Dutta Case: Mumbai Police Summon Daisy Shah For Statement

The Oshiwara Police, investigating the sexual harassment case against Nana Patekar, on Monday, 26 November, sent summons to actress Daisy Shah asking her to record her statement in the case.

In October this year, actor Tanushree Dutta filed an FIR with the Oshiwara Police against Nana Patekar for allegedly sexually harassing her on the sets of the movie, Horn Ok Please, for which Shah was an assistant choreographer. A senior officer confirmed the development.

3. Govt Reaches out to OBC Leaders for Support on Maratha Quota

The state government on Wednesday, 28 November, held wider consultations with Other Backward Class (OBC) leaders to elicit their support for smooth passage of the legislation on Maratha reservation in ongoing winter session. The government is likely to give 16 per cent reservation to the Marathas.

The decision to get the OBC leaders on board to support the Maratha quota comes ahead of the government’s decision to table the legislation on Maratha reservation and Action Taken Report on recommendations made by Maharashtra State Backward Class Commission on Thursday, 29 November, in state Assembly.

4. Pro-Vidarbha Parties Come Together for Statehood Demand, Polls

Nine political parties and fronts from Vidarbha, demanding or favoring a separate Vidarbha state, have come together to form a united front with a view to jointly fight the elections in 2019.

Called Vidarbha Nirman Mahamanch, the front comprises Vidarbha Rajya Aghadi led by Shrihari Aney, Vidarbha Rajya Andolan Samiti led by Wamanrao Chatap, Vidarbha Maza led by Rajkumar Tirpude, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Bahujan Republic Socialist Party, Shetkari Sanghatana, Prahaar Janshakti Paksha led by MLA Bachchu Kadu, Nag Vidarbha Andolan Samiti, Rashtriya Jansurajya Party, RPI (K) and Jambuwantrao Dhote Vichar Manch.

5. British Parkour Group Caught Performing Deadly Stunt On High-Rise

Mumbai police have detained six British nationals for performing deadly stunts on a high-rise near Prabhadevi station. Their stunt videos went viral online, showing the daredevils jumping from one 14-storey building to another.

All six are freerunners who perform death-defying stunts — Max Cave, 26, Benj Storror Cave, 24, Callum Powell, 27, Toby Segar, 24, Sacha Powell, 24, Drew F Taylor, 24. According to the police, they belong to a parkour group called Storror, famous for their stunts.

6. Govt Withdraws Ordinance on Agriculture Reforms

In a dramatic turn of events, the Maharashtra government on Wednesday, 28 November, decided to shelve its bid to bring about major changes in the Agricultural Produce Marketing Committees (Development and Regulation) Act, 1963.

The Ordinance to this effect was passed by the Lower House of the state Assembly on Tuesday. State Cooperation Minister Subhash Deshmukh withdrew it from the Upper House on Wednesday.

7. Mumbai Police's Bomb Squad Gets Three New High-Tech Robots

The Mumbai police has 'bot' its bomb squad some much needed protection, with three high-tech robots that will minimise loss of human lives while handling explosives. The force has finally got the much-awaited Mini Remotely Operated Vehicle (MROV) Rover Mark, costing around Rs 84 lakh.

The addition of these robots is part of the police's modernisation plan following the 26/11 terror attack in Mumbai.
