A 42-year-old fashion designer and a father of four was held on Monday, 9 April for allegedly continually sexually assaulting two of his daughters aged 17 and 13. He purportedly raped his daughters repeatedly for two years.
As per the statements of one of the minors, a class XI student, when they refused to yield, he threatened to kick them out of the house unceremoniously and to stop financing their education.
She then disclosed their plight to their mother, who confronted the accused. The minor survivor and the mother were then allegedly abused, as a consequence of their confrontation. This led them to file an FIR. The minor survivor revealed in her statement that she could not recall the precise date that the abuse began.
She was allegedly even silenced with a threat to kill her younger brother. The older of the two survivors told the cops that her father would intimidate them with prospects of forcing them and their mother into sexual encounters with other men in hotels.
A Special Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act court committed the accused to police custody till 13 April under the IPC and POCSO Act, to conduct his medical examination. The minors have now been rehabilitated in a shelter home.
