Nuh Court Grants Bail to Cow Vigilante Monu Manesar in Haryana Violence Case

Last month, a district court in Rajasthan had rejected Manesar's bail in a different case.

A district court in Haryana's Nuh on Monday, 16 October, granted bail to self-styled cow vigilante Monu Manesar, who was allegedly involved in the violence that broke out in the state earlier this year.

However, a district court in Rajasthan's Kaman had rejected Manesar's bail plea last month in connection with the Junaid-Nasir murder case, where the bodies of two Muslim men from Rajasthan’s Bharatpur were found burnt inside a car in Haryana’s Bhiwani in February 2023.

Details: Monu was arrested by the Haryana Police on 12 September and was handed over to the Rajasthan Police in relation to the Nasir-Junaid case.

A .45 Bore pistol and three live bullets were found on Monu at the time of the arrest. At present, he is under judicial custody.

Background: Six people were killed in the communal violence that broke out in Nuh during a procession of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad on 31 July. A cleric was also killed in an attack on a mosque in Gurugram.
