Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is travelling to his Lok Sabha constituency, Varanasi, on a two-day-visit, addressed farmers in Shahanshahpur on 23 September.
On 22 September, he inaugurated several development projects covering areas like infrastructure, railways, financial inclusion, and sanitation. Modi also launched India’s third ‘Mahamana Express’, a direct train service, which will connect Varanasi to Surat and Vadodara.
Addressing the farmers at Shahanshahpur, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that governance is not about politics or winning elections. but was about the wellbeing of the nation.
He said that a clean India was a healthier India. The prime minister added that Swachhata' has to become 'Swabhav' and “it is our collective responsibility to keep our nation clean”. He said that Swachhata was a Puja for him and that cleanliness was a way to serve the poor in India.
He lauded the Yogi government for working towards ensuring that all homes in the state had electricity supply.
Speaking at Shahanshahpur event, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi “was our inspiration”. He said that he was inspired by the prime minister to hold the Pashu Arogya Mela .
He added that by 2022, there will be no family without a roof in Uttar Pradesh.

He added that our weavers needed “a global market”, and that it will enhance their economic prospects significantly. He said that weavers needed to get access to international market, that will help them prosper economically.

Modi will also launch India’s third ‘Mahamana Express’, a direct train service, which will connect Varanasi to Surat and Vadodara.
Modi will inaugurate nearly 17 infrastructure projects, including the Ramnagar-Samne Ghat bridge and the Balua Ghat bridge, and lay the foundation of nearly six projects including Ramna Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), said Sanjay Bhardwaj, the BJP's eastern Uttar Pradesh media in- charge to PTI.
Modi said that the Deendayal Hastkala Sankul, a trade facilitation centre for handicrafts, will be dedicated to the nation. Modi tweeted the other projects he will launch on 22 September.
The Prime Minister will unveil a plaque to mark the beginning of the construction of the headquarters building of the Utkarsh Bank, the Prime Minister’s Office said.
On 22 September evening, Modi will visit the historic Tulsi Manas temple in Varanasi. He will also release a postal stamp on Ramayana, and will later visit the Durga Mata temple in the city.
