Actor Aamir Khan has drawn some support, but mostly criticism, for his comments at the Ramnath Goenka Awards for Excellence in Journalism on November 23. Among others, Rishi Kapoor took to Twitter with his retort to Aamir.

Speaking to Anant Goenka, Ceat’s managing director, on the ‘rising intolerance’ in the country, Khan said that he is ‘alarmed’ and that his wife often asks him about leaving India.

As an individual, as part of this country as a citizen, we read in the papers what is happening, we see it on the news and certainly, I have been alarmed. I can’t deny. I have been alarmed by a number of incidents.

In response to Gandhi’s statements, BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain asked him to check the record of his own party when it was in power.

Hussain also addressed Aamir and virtually told the actor that he won’t find a more tolerant country than India to live in.

...Mostly, He Faced Criticism

Although he recieved support from some quarters, Aamir’s comments mostly generated criticism, with questions raised about his endorsement of the Incredible India campaign and attacks against Snapdeal too.
