Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar called in Pakistan’s High Commissioner to India, Abdul Basit, on Tuesday, to present proofs of cross-border origins of the Uri attack.
According to a MEA spokesperson, Jaishankar informed Basit about the two youths who acted as guides for Pakistani infiltrators.
Twenty-year-old Faizal Hussain Awan, who is a resident of Portha Jahangir, Muzzaffarabad in PoK and 19-year-old Khurshid, who is a resident of Khiliana Kalan, Muzzaffarabad in PoK, were apprehended by local villagers at Gawatha in Jammu & Kashmir and nabbed in a joint BSF and Army police custody.
Basit was also presented with reports of preliminary interrogation, which revealed the identity of one of the slain Uri attackers. The preliminary probe revealed that the attacker, Haifa Ahmed, was a resident of Dharbang, in PoK Muzaffarabad.
Details of the handlers were also shared with Basit.
