1. Top Maoist Propagandist Abhay Nayak Held: Chhattisgarh Police
Chhattisgarh Police on Tuesday, 12 June, said they have arrested Abhay Devdas Nayak, who was an “important part of the Maoist overground network” and part of the propaganda bureau of CPI(Maoist). They said his role extended to writing and disseminating press releases for the rebels.
The police also claimed that the 34-year-old had visited 15 countries, including those with “active rebel elements”, and was part of the Co-Ordination Committee of Maoist Party and Organisations in South Asia (COCMPOSA).

2. Delhi Cops Nab UP Gangster After Shootout
In another face-off with criminals within the past four days, one of Uttar Pradesh’s top gangsters, Kishanpal, sustained two gunshot injuries in an encounter with Special Cell of Delhi Police in Bisrakh of Greater Noida (West) around 4.30 pm on Tuesday, 12 June.
Kishanpal, a native of Muzaffarnagar, was wanted in two dozen cases, including murder and robberies. He had a reward of Rs 1 lakh on him. He is learnt to having committed at least eight murders in the last few years.

3. Organ Transplant Racket Surfaces in Tamil Nadu
An organ transplant racket has surfaced in Tamil Nadu. Officials of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare have found that hearts harvested from brain-dead patients were given to foreign nationals, bypassing Indian patients on the waiting list.
In 2017, foreigners got about 25 percent of all heart transplants in the state and 33 percent of lung transplants.
Based on a specific input that at least three hearts retrieved from brain-dead patients were given to international patients in recent months in Chennai, the Directorate General of Health Services convened an urgent meeting in New Delhi recently.

4. Trio Kidnap Woman in Karnataka, Abandon Her in Tamil Nadu
A 48-year old woman was allegedly taken hostage in her own car by three unidentified men at Kengeri on 9 June. They allegedly forced her to drive to the outskirts of the city where they stole her valuables, tied her and locked her inside the car before abandoning her.
She was rescued the next morning by a passer-by, on Hosur Road near the Tamil Nadu border, after being stuck in her car for 12 hours.
She later told the police that the men had robbed her of ₹1 lakh in cash and jewellery worth ₹3 lakh.

5. Hoshiarpur: Sarpanch Murdered, Hunt On for Suspect
A village sarpanch was murdered allegedly by a person from the same village in Lambra village of Hoshiarpur district, Punjab, on Monday, 11 June. The police were informed the day after, and identified the victim as Davinder Singh (47). The suspect, Manmohan Singh (in his late 30s), is absconding.
Police said the crime was the fallout of a row over some trees in front of the house of the suspect, who told the sarpanch that leaves kept falling in the front yard and made it dirty.

6. Uttar Pradesh: Missing Dalit Girl Found Raped, Murdered; 2 Detained
The body of a six-year-old Dalit girl, who had been missing since Monday, 11 June, was found in a sugarcane field at a village in Hardoi district of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday morning, police said.
Police said she had been raped and murdered as her body had injury marks and blood on private parts. Two suspects from the same caste have been detained after the girl’s father alleged they were involved in the crime, they said.

7. Nayagaon Murder: Three PGI Workers Held, Sent to Three-Day Police Custody
The district police arrested three sanitation workers of Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, on Tuesday. 12 June, in connection with the murder of a 23-year-old man, who worked as a sweeper in its cardiac centre, on 7 June.
Saurabh alias Mandy was shot dead on 7 June outside his house in Janta colony in Nayagaon. Four bullets were fired at him. The accused, Rishab alias Udu, Arun Gagat alias Noni, and Akash Singh, all residents of Nayagaon, were produced in a local court, which remanded them in three-day police custody.

8. Crime Branch Searches Mapusa Deputy Collector’s Office
Crime branch of Goa police on Tuesday, 12 June, conducted a search of the office of the deputy collector, Mapusa, to locate files pertaining to land conversion in the Serula Communidade case that allegedly saw plots being sold illegally, police said
Crime branch Superintendent of Police (SP) Karthik Kashyap told TOI that they had asked the deputy collector for the documents, but had been informed that the files were missing.
