Manmohan Singh Bags Indira Gandhi Trust Prize for Peace 

Former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is the winner of the Indira Gandhi Prize for the year of 2017.

Former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will be the recipient of 2017’s Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development.

A committee of jurors headed by the former Indian President Pranab Mukherjee annually decide the awardees for their innovative efforts in promoting international peace, development and a new international economic order, ensuring that scientific discoveries are used for the larger good of humanity, and enlarging the scope of freedom.

The recipient of this award receives a Rs 25 lakh in cash and a citation as established by the Indira Gandhi Memorial trust in 1986.

Some of the famous past winners include the former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev, former US President Jimmy Carter, former President of the Czech Republic Vaclav Havel, and organisations such as the United Nation’s Human High Commissioner for Refugees and ISRO.
