Indian unit of fast food chain KFC owned by Yum Brands might be in trouble as a worm was reportedly found in a burger at their City Centre Mall outlet in Mangaluru on Monday.
A day after the incident was reported, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, UT Khader said that the department would issue a notice to the multi-national food chain, reports the Times of India.
Khader also said the outlet should have checked the quality of the food they serve. “We cannot tolerate such lapses by anyone, including an MNC,” he said.
After eating almost half of a burger, Deekshitha, who had come to KFC along with her fiance on Monday, was horrified to find two worms in it.
Times of India reported that the couple were dissuaded by the outlet manager from complaining and the KFC staff was not responsive to Deekshitha’s queries. The outlet manager claimed the worms could have come with the vegetables.
Prashanth told the newspaper that the staff tried to stop them from taking pictures of the worms in the burger.
