The price of a 14.2 kg cylinder of a non-subsidised domestic LPG has crossed Rs 1,000 in most parts of Karnataka, The Hindu reported.

While in Bidar, a cylinder is being sold at Rs 1,015.5, in Bengaluru, it’s being sold at Rs 941. The prices are more or less similar in Mangaluru (Rs 921), Hubballi (Rs 962) and Belahavi (956).

According to The Hindu, prices were Rs 654, Rs 630, Rs 670 and Rs 666 a cylinder at these places, respectively, in April this year, while it was Rs 721 in Bidar.

Factors such as global LPG prices, international prices of butane and propane, and prices of natural gas too play a role, sources in the oil marketing industry told The Hindu.

LPG retail price at a particular city is determined by the distance from the bottling plant, The Hindu reported.

The price rise comes even as the Opposition has been crying foul over rising fuel prices in the country, questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s promise of “achhe din”.
