Jana Sena Party has released a list of 32 candidates for the Assembly elections and four candidates for the Lok Sabha elections in Andhra Pradesh. It has also released one candidate contesting the Lok Sabha elections in Telangana.

The process of filing nominations for the Lok Sabha elections began in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar on Monday, 18 March.
District Election Officer Ajay Shanker Pandey said that the last date for filing of nominations is 25 March. The scrutiny of the nomination papers will be taken up on 26 March and the last date for withdrawal of nominations is 28 March.
The Lok Sabha polls will be held in seven phases from 11 April to 19 May.

Around 82 unlicensed arms and 2,113 cartridges, along with 16,495 litre of illicit liquor have been seized in the national capital since 10 March when the model code of conduct for the Lok Sabha polls came into force, Delhi's Chief Electoral Officer Ranbir Singh said.
Singh said 75 FIRs have also been registered under the Arms Act and 93 persons have been arrested.

Odisha Chief Minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik on Monday announced the first list of candidates for nine Parliamentary Constituencies and 54 Assembly Constituencies for upcoming elections in the state.
CM Patnaik said that he will contest from Hinjili and Bijepur assembly seats. Odisha will have state elections simultaneously with Lok Sabha polls held over four phases, the Election Commission said on 10 March.
The elections for the state's 21 Lok Sabha seats and 147 assembly seats would be held on April 11, 18, 23 and 29.

The Election Commission (EC) told the Bombay High Court that it will issue directions prohibiting all social media platforms from displaying political advertisements not pre-verified by it.
The EC, through its counsel Pradeep Rajagopal, told the high court that a meeting between the commission and all social media intermediaries was scheduled for 18 March.
Following the same, its new directions imposing several prohibitions on political advertisements, and other ads concerned with "national interest", will be finalised and implemented. Rajagopal made the submissions before a bench of Chief Justice Naresh Patil and Justice N M Jamdar.

Over reports suggesting BJP leader and Union Minister Giriraj Singh "being upset" after BJP gave Bihar's Nawada Lok Sabha seat to ally LJP, party leader Chirag Paswan said he will call Giriraj to enquire about this.
"We have good relations with him. I got to know through media that he is little upset. I will call him and ask him if it is so. And if he is, I will try to resolve the issue," Paswan said.
Earlier in the day, Giriraj was reported to be upset after the Nawada Lok Sabha seat, which he represents, went to NDA ally LJP.
"Compulsions of seat-sharing may be there. But I wish to underscore that no other union minister from Bihar may have to give up his sitting seat," the veteran BJP leader had told the media.
According to the seat-sharing formula, the BJP and the JD-U will contest 17 seats each while the remaining six seats will go to Ram Vilas Paswan's LJP.

Karnataka Congress leader A Manju resigned from the party over the alliance with the Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S) for the Lok Sabha elections.
"The recent developments in the Congress, especially the alliance with JD-S, is a disaster," Manju wrote in a letter dated 17 March to state Congress chief Dinesh Gundu Rao which he shared with the media.
Manju joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in Hassan district on Sunday. He was a three-time MLA from the district and a former Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Minister.

The filing of nomination papers for the Lok Sabha elections began in Uttarakhand on 18 March.
State Chief Electoral Officer Sowjanya said the last date for the filing of nominations is 25 March and scrutiny will take place the next day, on 26 March. Nominations can be withdrawn by 28 March, Sowjanya said.
Voting for the state's five Lok Sabha seats – Tehri, Pauri-Garhwal, Almora (reserved), Nainital and Haridwar will be held in the first phase, on 11 April. Sowjanya said that a total of 76,28,526 voters, including 88,000 from the armed forces, will participate in this year's elections in the state.

The Congress Monday night released its fifth list of 56 candidates for the Lok Sabha elections, including 22 from Andhra Pradesh and 11 from West Bengal.
