Sanjay Dutt’s Routine in Jail

Dutt followed the normal jail routine like every other prisoner. “This meant getting up at 5.30 am, offering morning prayers, exercise, tea, breakfast, and then work cut out for the day. While other prisoners went to the work shed to undertake their prescribed work, Dutt, assigned cane work and making of paper bags, did it in his own cell for security considerations,” says Deputy Inspector General, Prisons (jail administration) Swati Sathe.

It is a very emotional time for all of us. Our family’s 23-year-old ordeal ends today. I wish our father was here with us. Today will be chaotic; I don’t think we’ll manage to spend quiet time with him for a few days. He has been very strong, he has gone through what he had to go through sincerely. He has abided by the law right from day one. He hasn’t complained at all. He is looking forward to getting back to work. I request the press to see that he’s done his time.
