Derek also hits out at the Modi government. He says, technology is being misused by the government. He makes a reference to doctored videos that were used as evidence against Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union President Kanhaiya Kumar. Derek says video doctorology is being used and asks, “Is this Digital India or divisive India?”
Derek concludes his speech with an Ambedkar quote urging the government and the Congress party to keep their eye on the ball.
‘Disrupting House’ as a Strategy
Trinamool Congress’ Derek O’Brien responds to Prime Minister Modi’s Lok Sabha speech. Derek asks Rajya Sabha members, “The leader of the House in Lok Sabha said the House must be allowed to function. But the leader of the House in Rajya Sabha (Arun Jaitley) had said in 2012 that disrupting the House is a legitimate tactic by the Opposition to expose the government.”
Derek asks who the MPs should believe.
Derek echoes Rahul Gandhi’s questions from Lok Sabha yesterday. Quoting from the budget speech, he says,
You say skill India, Make in India, Swachh Bharat, all fancy names. I want to ask you one simple question. How many jobs have you created? Instead of giving them jobs, you are imprisoning young people.
Derek also talks about the aftermath of Rohith Vemula’s suicide.
He says, “Constitution Day happened. All of us heard and gave great speeches. We all spoke about Ambedkar. Our party was the first to go to Hyderabad. Being first of seventh or eighth doesn’t matter because no matter what we can’t bring Rohith back”.
Rajnath Defends Katheria’s Speech

Don’t Block Safe Passage of GST Bill, Requests Modi
MNREGA has been put to use in less needy states. Look at the CAG report of 2012 and what observations were made.
2012 CAG report states NREGA didn’t target the ‘real’ poor section of the society.
Intellectuals should compare Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana and MGNREGA
One MP said Fasal Bima Yojana is only for few districts. I want to say that this scheme will be applicable everywhere.
Main kaise keh sakta hoon rail maine shuru ki? Aap (Congress) keh sakte hain-aap kuch bhi keh sakte hain.
Fasal Bima Yojana will be applicable in all districts.
Out of fear for what will be printed in the papers we indulge in “tu-tu-mai-mai”.
We will have to trust the 125 crore people of India.
Governemnt is accountable for it’s actions.
The government will not be able to improve if you (opposition) do not help us.
We Are Cleaning UPA’s Mess: Modi
We are mocking things like Make in India? This is for the nation. If there are shortcomings it may be shared and discussed.
There are many things which are your (Congress’) legacy, less toilets in schools for instance.
No one will deny that if Congress would have helped the poor in 60 years, the poor wouldn’t still be facing trouble.
We must admit that MGNREGA is not a symbol of our success. If poverty had not been there, we could not have needed MGNREGA.
We can’t ignore 60 years of misgovernance. No one will deny that if Congress would have helped the poor in 60 years, the poor wouldn’t still be facing trouble.

Modi’s Three Suggestions to the Parliament
1. 8th March is International Women’s Day and maybe that day only women members should speak in the Parliament.
2. Discuss sustainable development
3. Dedicate a week to first-time MPs in the parliament. This will bring a fresh perspective to the proceedings.
Oppn Disrupts Parliament Due to Inferiority Complex: Modi
Opposition in the Lok Sabha (Photo Courtesy: Lok Sabha TV screengrab)
Narendra Modi taking a dig at Congress, quotes Rajiv Gandhi in the Lok Sabha,
House is a place where debates are to take place, but if boundaries are maintained during a debate then it is fruitful. When Parliament sessions are not functional, the nation suffers and more than that the MPs suffer because they can’t discuss issues. Opposition has a inferiority complex and therefore, keep disprupting the parliament. They do not let the governement speak because they are afraid. I appeal the Opposition to help pass important bills in both Houses of Parliament
Prime minister Narendra Modi replies on the motion of thanks to the President’s address in Lok Sabha.
Earlier Home Minister Rajnath Singh in Lok Sabha, “Tamil Nadu government’s letter on release of Rajiv Gandhi assassination convicts is being examined by our government.”
Roll Back EPF Tax: Rahul Gandhi
Rahul Gandhi asked Narendra Modi to roll back EPF (Employees’ Provident Fund) tax calling it unfair outside the Parliament today. He addressed the media saying,
What the government is doing with regard to EPF is unfair, I would request the prime minister to take back the Tax on EPF. I mentioned about ‘fair & lovely’ scheme where thieves who have stolen money are being allowed to change their black money for white. To destroy the EPF which is a safety net is unfair. I request the PM to take back the decision. EPF is a safety net of people, it should not be destroyed. Government should take back that.
