Hours later, FTII Chairman Gajendra Chauhan says, “Protesting is their democratic right and the police will look into how to deal with the protest. It was my desire to talk with the students. I want to listen to their grievances. The staffs received me with a positive attitude.”
The Governing Council has essentially been appointed by Gajendra Chauhan. This means, in case there is a difference in opinion between the two parties, Chauhan gets to overrule the Council.
The FTII students have protested this move too stating they will have no say in matters pertinent to their course, if the Governing Council under Chauhan were to take all the decisions.
On his way out, Gajendra Chauhan refused to give out details saying the outcome of today’s meetings was “positive”.
