Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi attacks BJP and the prime minister in Lok Sabha over black money in Lok Sabha.
Rahul said, “Under fair and lovely yojna, you can go to Arun Jaitley, pay tax and all your black money will turn white”.
He also criticised PM Modi’s silence in the aftermath of Rohith Vemula’s death and JNUSU President, Kanhaiya Kumar’s arrest. He said:
He said that JNU was being targeted because “40 percent of the students of JNU are from backward classes, whose parents earn less than Rs 6,000”.
Rahul Gandhi also raised the issue of the assault on teachers, students and journalists alike in Patiala House Court. “Why did the prime minister remain silent when students and media persons were attacked,” he asked.
He also spoke about the black flags that were waved at him by ABVP members when he visited the JNU campus.
Rahul also attacked the prime minister accusing him of not listening to his own MPs and Cabinet.
He said, “Whose opinion does the Prime Minister respect? You have been taught by your teachers in the RSS that there’s only one truth in the universe – your own. This is all you have shown us in the last two years. The country is not the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister is not the country”.
Gandhi said the effort that was put into breaking the back of the insurgency in Jammu and Kashmir made UPA proud.
Despite those rigorous efforts made by the UPA during their tenure, Gandhi continued, Modi did not bother to consult anybody in the army or his own ministry when he made a stop in Pakistan to drink chai with his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif.
Gandhi maintained that in doing this, Modi disrespected the country and “destroyed the conversation with the country’s citizens”.
Gandhi informed the Lok Sabha that once the Prime Minister had told the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi that he had solved the Nagaland crisis, which left her befuddled since she hadn’t been briefed by the Chief Minister.
On calling them, Gandhi said that the Chief Minister or the Home Ministry didn’t have any knowledge of it.
Gandhi also accused Modi of criticising the MNREGA scheme and calling it “a failure which destroyed the nation”, when the UPA was in power and then allotting money to the same scheme and calling it a success.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley addressed the Aircel-Maxis case against Karti Chidambaram in Lok Sabha saying,
BJP leader MA Naqvi in Rajya Sabha said, “We are ready for discussion on Karti Chidambaram issue, AIADMK should give notice.”
Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said the government has no problem in discussing the matter in any manner and also take necessary action.
BJP MP Om Birla gives a notice in Lok Sabha on Ishrat Jahan case issue.
Nitin Gadkari blamed UPA government of indulging in anti-national activities while handling the Ishrat Jahan case.
AIADMK has given adjournment motion in Lok Sabha on P Chidambaram’s role in the Aircel-Maxis deal.
BJP’s Bhupender Yadav has given calling attention motion in Rajya Sabha on the Ishrat Jahan issue. BJP has raised questions over Chidambaram and alleged that Sonia Gandhi had forced a change in the affidavit.
Opposition is likely to rock the Parliament on Wednesday as well even as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to speak on the motion of thanks. The Congress seems to be going all out to target the NDA government with party president Sonia Gandhi chairing a strategy meeting with senior party leaders on Wednesday.
