As India marked the 10th anniversary of the 26/11 carnage on Monday, 26 November, the Ministry of External Affairs called on Pakistan to shed its double standards and show sincerity in bringing perpetrators of the attack to justice.

In a sharp remark on Pakistan for hanging fire on the trial, which has been going on since 2009, the MEA stated the plotters of the attack were roaming the streets with impunity.

2. Kartarpur Corridor Ceremony: Will Not Tolerate Conspiracies By Pak Army Chief, Says Amarinder Singh

In a stern warning to Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief Minister Amarinder Singh Monday, 26 November, said Punjab will not tolerate any “conspiracies” by the neighbouring country and advised Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan to “control the Army and ISI” and “stop the attacks on Indian soil”.

“It is my duty to maintain peace in Punjab. But there are people like Pakistan Army Chief Qamar Javed Bajwa who want to create disturbances. I will not allow such conspiracies. Bajwa should wake up,” Amarinder, who was speaking at the foundation stone-laying ceremony of the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor in Gurdaspur, said.

3. IndiGo Clarifies Web Check-in Policy, Says Not Compulsory to Pay for Seats

Clarifying its recent change in policy over web check-in, low-cost carrier IndiGo Monday, 26 November, confirmed that there is no change in the airline’s web check-in practice and that the passengers will not have to compulsorily pay for their seats. This comes after the Ministry of Civil Aviation decided to review the move by the airlines to ensure that the fee falls within the ‘unbundled pricing framework’.

The new policy came to light after a passenger raised the issue on Twitter on Sunday, 25 November. In its reply, the airlines stated as per a newly revised policy that came into effect from 14 November , passengers using the web check-in facility can no longer select seats that don’t carry any overheads.

With one eye focussed on a candy and another under the layers of bandage, 19-month-old Hibba, youngest ever pellet victim from Shopian, on Monday, 26 November, pulled both patients and attendants attention at Srinagar’s Shri Maharaja Hari Singh Hospital on Monday, 26 November.

Outside the hospital, the image of the baby with pellet marks on her eyelid, has already become a rallying point for the protesters online as well on the streets against growing violence in Kashmir this year — with 529 deaths, including 145 civilians and 241 militants, already dead.

5. Indian-Origin Hotel Management Student Found Hanging in Canada, Family Suspect Murder

A young man from Punjab was found hanging from a tree outside his home in Canada’s Toronto, where he had gone to pursue a course in hotel management, police there told his family here over phone on Sunday, 25 November, night.

The news of Vishal Sharma’s (21) death has shaken his family in Nabha.

The Canadian police told his father Naresh Sharma that they were investigating the matter and they will report the findings to the family within three days.

It is in the best interests of the nation to heed to the ethics and morality of the Constitution; otherwise, “our hubris will end with a plunge into chaos”, Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi said on Monday, 26 November.

Speaking at the Constitution Day function with President Ram Nath Kovind and Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad sharing the stage, the Chief Justice said the Constitution was “the voice of the marginalised as well as the prudence of the majority”.

7. Fire In Mumbai’s Wadala After Oil Tanker Crash, 1 Dead

A massive fire broke out in south Mumbai’s Wadala area on Monday, 26 November, night after an oil tanker burst into flames after an accident, fire officials said. The tanker driver was killed while the driver of the other vehicle suffered injuries.

The incident was reported around 10.40 pm near the RTO office on the Sewri-Chembur Road. The tanker, plying towards Chunabhatti, had hit another vehicle (a tempo) and lost balance before it exploded.

8. NRI Woman From South Africa Gang-raped By Tourist Guide, Friend in Mathura

An NRI woman tourist from South Africa was allegedly gangraped by a guide and his friend in Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura district.

A case was registered on complaint lodged by a friend of the victim, who has, however, refused to undergo medical examination, putting police in a fix.

Police on Monday, 26 November, night arrested the two accused, guide Monu and his friend Vishnu who runs a massage parlour where they took the victim.

9. President Kovind Appoints Sunil Arora As New Chief Election Commissioner

President Ram Nath Kovind appointed Sunil Arora as the new Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), replacing OP Rawat. Arora will take charge on 2 December. Arora was previously brought in as the Election Commissioner in September, last year to fill the vacancy created by former CEC Nasim Zaidi’s retirement.

A 1980-batch IAS officer of the Rajasthan cadre, Arora was the skill development secretary before he was appointed as the top bureaucrat in the I&B Ministry. He has also worked in ministries and departments such as Finance, Textiles and Planning Commission and was also CMD of Indian Airlines for five years.
