Chad Wolf, the Acting Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, announced he was resigning on Monday as worries rose over more violence during President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration next week.
Wolf, whose department is in-charge of security for the 20 January ceremony, will step down at midnight, according to a letter he sent to DHS staff.

India has reported 12,584 new COVID-19 cases, 18,385 discharges, and 167 deaths in last 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry. This takes the total cases in the country to 1,04,79,179, while active cases are at 2,16,558. Meanwhile, total discharges have reached 1,01,11,294 and the death toll is at 1,51,327.

Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Bipin Rawat, visited forward military posts in the Ladakh sector along the China border on Tuesday and interacted with the Army soldiers.
