An Indian national, wanted on charges including attempted murder, extortion, theft and possession of illegal firearms, was deported from US and turned over to Indian authorities, an official statement said on Tuesday.
Ubaidullah Abdulrashid Radiowala, 46, also known as Obed Radiowala, is a key accused in the 2014 cases of alleged conspiracy to kill Bollywood director Mahesh Bhatt and firing on film-maker Karim Morani.
An Interpol Red Corner notice was also issued on the request of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in 2015 after a Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court issued a fresh non-bailable warrant against Radiowala.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau ousted two former ministers from his Liberal Party on Tuesday whose accusations of political meddling in a prosecution jeopardised his re-election bid.
The announcement came at the end of an emergency caucus meeting to consider expelling former attorney general Jody Wilson-Raybould after her release of a secret recording last week that reignited the simmering scandal.

The US has approved the sale of 24 multi-role MH-60 'Romeo' Seahawk helicopters to India at an estimated cost of 2.4 billion dollars, the State Department said.
The Trump Administration on Tuesday notified the Congress that it has approved sale of 24 MH-60R multi-mission helicopters, which will provide the Indian defence forces the capability to perform anti-surface and anti-submarine warfare missions.

A Thane court has summoned Congress president Rahul Gandhi and CPM General Secretary Sitaram Yechury to appear before it on 30 April to respond to the charges of defaming RSS by allegedly linking it to journalist Gauri Lankesh's murder.
The pilots of an Ethiopian Airlines 737 MAX jet that crashed last month had initially followed Boeing Company's emergency procedures but later deviated from them as they tried to regain control of the plane, the Wall Street Journal said on Wednesday.
The crash killed all 157 people on board and led to a global grounding of 737 MAX jets and scrutiny of the certification process for the Boeing plane.

The CBI has conducted raids at various places in the city in connection with a Rs 14.34 crore scam in the Meghalaya Rural Bank (MRB), officials said today
The raids were conducted at several places in the city and in the outskirts based on a complaint filed by the general manager of the bank on 27 March last, an official told PTI.
In his complaint to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the MRB general manager cited instances of fraudulent loan disbursements to nearly 150 clients by the then bank manager at Iewduh branch, the official said.

Jawans of paramilitary forces like the CRPF and the BSF are likely to get tax exemption on ration money allowance and risk and hardship allowance, officials said today.
The move, when implemented, is expected to benefit about nine lakh personnel of paramilitary forces - CRPF, BSF, CISF, ITBP and SSB.
The finance ministry has given an assurance to the home ministry that it would consider the demand to exempt ration money allowance and risk and hardship allowance granted to paramilitary personnel from the purview of income tax, a home ministry official said.

Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu today ruled out any interference in efforts to help cash-strapped Jet Airways, saying that the government should not be seen to be doing any kind of deals to help an airline.

Pakistan's top anti-graft body today recovered Rs 60 crore in the fake accounts case from prime suspect Younas Kudwavi, who is believed to be a business partner of former president Asif Ali Zardari, according to a media report.
The National Accountability Bureau's (NAB) Rawalpindi chapter recovered Rs 60 crore from Kudwavi, Geo News reported, citing sources.
The NAB has also presented its interim challan before the accountability court - approved earlier by its executive board.

Ensuring growth with jobs is the biggest challenge for the country as it heads into the general elections, NITI Aayog chief executive Amitabh Kant said today.
The travel, tourism and hospitality sector has the best answer to this challenge as it creates quality jobs, Kant said, announcing that the government plans to introduce 100 new tourism-centric trains after the elections.
"This sector provides the answer to Indias biggest challenge, the challenge of growth with equity and the challenge to grow with jobs," he said, speaking at the Hotel Investment Conference South Asia event.

A Chinese woman carrying multiple cellphones and a thumb drive containing malware was arrested on Saturday at US President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida while he was staying there, court documents revealed Tuesday.

Slamming the trial court, police and prosecution for various lapses in a rape-cum-murder case, the Madras High Court today acquitted all three accused sentenced to death and directed the police to find out if any attempt was made to shield the real culprits.
A bench of justices P N Prakash and B Pughalendi said there were blatant contradictions in the depositions of the witnesses and the post-mortem report and neither the trial court nor the defence counsel paid attention to them.
While the post-mortem report did not establish rape, the medical examination of the accused too did not reveal that they had raped the girl, the bench said recording its concern about non-availability of quality legal service to underprivileged like the accused in this case.

Enforcement Directorate told a Delhi court today that it was trying to identify one "RG" whose name has appeared multiple times during the AgustaWestland VVIP chopper case probe.
The agency made the submissions while seeking extension of custodial interrogation of an accused Sushen Mohan Gupta arrested in the case.

The CBI today refused to take any stand on the pleas of former police officers D G Vanzara and N K Amin seeking to drop court proceedings against them in the Ishrat Jahan alleged fake encounter case.

A US proposal to send more NATO ships to the Black Sea to ensure safe passage for Ukrainian vessels and deter Russia is viewed "negatively" in Moscow, the Kremlin said today.
“Washington has been working on a package to boost surveillance and deploy more NATO vessels to the Black Sea after a naval confrontation between Moscow and Kiev last year,” the US ambassador to NATO said.
The measure was expected to be discussed during talks by NATO foreign ministers in Washington on Wednesday and Thursday.

Embattled liquor tycoon Vijay Mallya today faced yet another legal battle to prevent a consortium of Indian banks led by State Bank of India (SBI) getting access to nearly 260,000 pounds in a UK bank account.
The 62-year-old is contesting an interim debt order obtained by the Indian banks in January this year, which relates to funds in the former Kingfisher Airlines boss' current account with ICICI Bank in London.
At a hearing before Master David Cook at the Queen's Bench Division of the court, Mallya's legal team sought a dismissal of the interim order. A judgment in the case is expected at a later date.
