The Bombay High Court Thursday, 29 November, continued an earlier order restraining Mumbai Police from filing its charge sheet or taking coercive steps against actors Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and director Karan Johar and others accused in an obscenity case.
The celebrities had approached the high court in 2015 after a case was lodged against them in February that year under Indian Penal Code (IPC) Sections 292 and 294 pertaining to obscenity.

A 35-year-old man was allegedly killed in full public view by an auto-driver in Hyderabad, even as some onlookers captured the incident on their mobiles, police said Thursday.
The incident happened Wednesday. 28 November, evening following an argument between the victim, S Qureshi and accused M A Khaja (30) over some dispute, a police official said, adding the accused has been taken into custody.

A lioness was found dead in Gujarat's Gir forest on Thursday, 29 November, taking the death toll of big cats to 30 since September, officials said.
The carcass of the lioness, aged between 9 and 12 years, was found at the Tulsishyam Range of the forest near the border of Amreli district, Chief Conservator of Forests, Junagadh Wildlife Circle, D T Vasavada said.

Ten thousand litres of illicit liquor was seized on Karnal-Meerut highway in Shamli district here, police said Thursday, 29 November.
Acting on a tip-off, the police intercepted a loaded truck at the highway and seized the liquor bottles worth Rs 60 lakhs, they said.
During investigation, the accused revealed that he was smuggling the liquor from Punjab to Bihar, the police said, adding a case was registered against the truck driver.

The country's largest lender State Bank of India Thursday approved the sale of 4 per cent stake in SBI General Insurance for Rs 482 crore to two alternative investment funds (AIFs).
The executive committee of SBI at its meeting approved the sale of 86.2 lakh shares of Rs 10 each, equalling to 4 per cent stake in its subsidiary SBI General Insurance Company Ltd (SBI GI), for Rs 482 crore (around USD 66 million), SBI said in a release.

Eleven people were sentenced to life imprisonment till death by a court in Gir-Somnath district of Gujarat Thursday for burning a Dalit man alive six years ago.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 54,500 on each of the accused, who were found guilty of killing Lalji Sarvaiya, a Dalit youth of Ankolali village in Una taluka in September 2012.

According to a civil aviation minister official, government has cleared Rs 29,000 crore of Air India’s Rs 55,000 crore debt to a special purpose vehicle.
“Government has taken away Rs 29,000 crore of Air India's massive debt burden of around Rs 55,000 crore to a special purpose vehicle (SPV). We are providing a partial but significant relief to Air India,” said RN Choubey, Secretary, Civil Aviation Ministry.
Police on Thursday seized 89 cattle from two areas of Jharkhand’s Pakur district and arrested four persons on the charge of smuggling the animals to West Bengal.
