At least seven people were killed on Friday in a suicide bomb and gun attack claimed by Al-Shabaab militants on a hotel in southern Somalia.
Authorities said a suicide bomber rammed a vehicle loaded with explosives into the popular Medina hotel in the southern port town of Kismayo before several heavily armed gunmen forced their way inside, shooting as they went.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal Friday flagged off the first train under the Mukhyamantri Tirth Yatra scheme from the Safdarjung railway station here.
Under the religious pilgrimage scheme, fully funded by the Delhi government, the train will ferry 1,000 senior citizens on the Delhi-Amritsar-Wagah Border-Anandpur Sahib tour circuit. The government will bear the entire expenditure, including travel, accommodation, meals and other arrangements.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has asked the Mines Ministry to submit a report on the functioning of the mining industry in Goa within eight days, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said Friday.
The mining industry in the coastal state had come to a standstill one-and-a-half years ago after the Supreme Court quashed 88 mining leases owing to irregularities in the process adopted for their renewal.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller's appearance in US Congress next week to testify on the Russia election meddling investigation and allegations of obstruction by President Donald Trump has been postponed, US media reported on Friday.
Mueller was scheduled to appear on 17 July before the House Judiciary and Intelligence Committees.
But media reports say the planned sessions were viewed as too short by members of the committees and that negotiations were underway for longer hearings, possibly on 24 July.

India and Russia held high-level talks in New Delhi to elevate bilateral cooperation to the next level in the field of space, including assistance in India's maiden human space flight mission 'Gaganyaan', according to Ministry of External Affairs.

Four Indian nationals are in detention in Gibraltar in connection with an ongoing investigation into an Iranian oil supertanker seized last week for breaching the EU sanctions against Syria, as Royal Gibraltar Police arrested two more Indian sailors on Friday.
The latest arrests, of the second mates aboard the vessel named Grace I, follow the arrest of the captain and chief officer of the ship on Thursday on suspicion of breaching the European Union (EU) sanctions against Syria.
"All four men are Indian nationals and they have been granted full legal assistance, telephone contact with their families and access to their consular authorities," Royal Gibraltar Police said in a statement.

US President Donald Trump confirmed on Friday that agents of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency will launch raids across the country this weekend to round up thousands of undocumented migrants for deportation.
"They came in illegally," he told reporters at the White House. "They are going to take people out and they are going to send them back to their country." Trump said ICE would focus mainly on people with convictions, including gang members, but also others.
"It starts on Sunday and they're going to take people out and they're going to bring them back to their countries," Trump told reporters at the White House.

Senior officials from India and the US held detailed discussions Friday on various trade related issues to strengthen bilateral economic relations, the commerce ministry said.
"Both sides discussed the broad contours of bilateral trade and commercial ties and agreed to continue their discussions for achieving mutually beneficial outcomes aimed at further growing the economic relationship and addressing mutual trade concerns," it said in a statement.
A team led by Assistant US Trade Representative (AUSTR) for South and Central Asia, Christopher Wilson, was here for the meeting with senior officials of the commerce and industry ministry.
The US delegation, it said, was here to explore potential for enhanced bilateral trade and economic engagement with India under the new government.
Heavy monsoon showers triggered floods and landslides in parts of the Northeast, where at least seven people died on Friday and over four lakh in Assam were affected by a raging Brahmaputra, while rain-related incidents claimed 14 lives in Uttar Pradesh in past nine days.
However, the national capital's wait for the rain continued as it witnessed a hot and humid day with the maximum temperature settling at 38.3 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal. Some relief is likely on 15-16 July as rains are expected in the city.

A TRS leader, who was abducted by Maoists from his house three days ago in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district of Telangana, was found dead on the state's border with Chattisgarh, police said on Friday.
N Srinivas Rao, a local Telangana Rashtra Samithi leader aged around 45, was abducted from Kothur village in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district around midnight Monday.
"His body was found in Errampadu, a small hamlet in Chhattisgarh. There was an injury on his head. We have to ascertain how he died.
"Only after an inquest can we exactly say how he died and whether it is a bullet injury or head injury," Rajesh Chandra, Additional Superintendent of Police Bhadrachalam, told PTI.
Mumbai attack mastermind and JuD chief Hafiz Saeed and his six aides on Friday challenged the charges of terror financing and money laundering against them in a Pakistani court.
The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of Punjab Police on 3 July registered 23 FIRs against 13 leaders of the Jamaat-ud-Dawah (JuD) including its chief Saeed on the charges of "terror financing" in different cities of Punjab province.
Despite the Punjab Police's claim that all those nominated in the terror financing FIRs will be arrested, no action has been taken against them so far.
On Friday Saeed, who is reportedly living at his Jauhar Town residence in Lahore, challenged these FIRs in the Lahore High Court.

A scrap dealer was injured after an unknown device went off in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, police said.
Javed Ahmad Dar, a resident of Zasow area in south Kashmir district, was dealing with junk when the incident took place, a police official said.
Dar was immediately rushed to the District Hospital Pulwama, and was later referred to the Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) Hospital for specialised treatment, he said.

Markets regulator Sebi has imposed a total fine of Rs 42 lakh on five entities for executing non-genuine trades in the illiquid stock options segment of BSE.
As per Sebi's orders, a fine of Rs 14 lakh was levied on Evergrowing Iron & Finvest, while Zealous Financial Services and Vijay Shree Builders Pvt Ltd were imposed a penalty of Rs 9 lakh each. A fine of Rs 5 lakh each was also levied on Amit Auto Credit Company and Ganpati Multi Commodity Business India.
The five entities "indulged in execution of reversal of trades in stock options segment of BSE with same entities on the same day. Such trades are non-genuine in nature and have created false and misleading appearance of trading in terms of artificial volumes in the stock options segment of BSE," Sebi said in similarly worded, but separate orders.

Supreme Court today refused to entertain a PIL filed by advocate Anuja Kapur, seeking a direction for laying down guidelines for flying squads and invigilators on frisking of students before examination halls.
